Ice on the Windshield
Friday November 18, 2005
An old sun lazily spirals across the sky slowly spinning in perfect unison with the question why
And as sunlight dances on pyramids that once were new; but now ancient man remains troubled, amidst thoughts all so transient
And while many an unanswered one jolts his singular journey they are best left alone lest they cause mortal injury
For time is all too brief to waste with a harried cry thus it becomes an eternal relief to not question why

Wednesday morning in the world, Wednesday morning in Blogstream, and "Good Morning" to both of ye. lol
I can chuckle a little bit this morning because "things" in my life have gotten somewhat complicated, and although most of "these things" are logistical, and just needs some "straightening here and there, I have also been dealing with something that one can only sit back and watch, and perhaps pray if that is their desire or need.
A couple of weeks ago my 78 year old father lost sight in his right eye, for about 15 minutes which he mistakenly put off as a cataract problem, thus he did not go to the family doctor. When it happened a second time within a few days, he then decided to go to his eye doctor. That is when I found out about it. My parents are both 78 and quite proudly still live on their own and are quite independent, in fact many of their grandchildren "depend" on them in some ways, i.e. picking up some of the younger ones after school and stuff, when their parents are unable to for whatever reason.
To make a fairly long story as short as possible, the eye doctor quite rightly referred my father to the family doctor, and it was then that the usually "slow wheels" of the medical world - kicked into high speed, which is an ominous factor in and of itself.
Dad was quickly diagnosed with "blockage" in both his carotid arteries, one was 95 percent blocked, and the other 85 percent blocked. Needless to say a very dangerous situation, and one that the doctors took very seriously. To make the diagnosis itself was somewhat risky for someone of my Dad's age, but he flew through the two procedures in fine shape and was scheduled for surgery on this last Monday, just 2 days ago.
Since I live nearly 300 miles from my parents, I sweated out the diagnostic procedures from afar after being assured that they were basically "routine", and that the real crunch would be if surgery was required. The doctors had said that if the blockage was less than 75 percent, no surgery would be required and "blood thinners" could be employed, but as noted above, this was not the case for Dad.
Surgery was performed Monday at 3 p.m.,(I was there for this) and was a complete success and Dad got to go home yesterday, and is doing fine at the time of this writing. They completely "cleaned out" the right carotid artery which had caused the temporary loss of sight in Dad's right eye. This is the one (right carotid artery) that the doctors were most concerned with because it had demonstrated a propensity for trouble, i.e. the blindness in his right eye.
Although he is through this procedure, he will need to have the other one (left carotid artery) cleaned sometime within the next 3-4 weeks although the doctors are not overly concerned about it. Still, they recommend that it be done rather quickly.
So, for now, it appears Dad is mostly "out of the woods", and for that I am most grateful. Along with this situation there has been other "smaller and much less serious" things going on in my life which I am dealing with at the moment, and look to have most if not all took care of within the next couple of days. Naturally, when you throw in a full-time and sometimes quite demanding job, and the advent of the holidays, one finds himself somewhat short of time. Which is a good way to describe me at the moment.
So, with all that is going on I have found my time on "blogstream" a little less than before, but as I noted above, I expect to have my "ship of state" righted in a couple of days, perhaps a week at the longest.
This weekend we will travel back to see my father, and will return on Sunday to prepare for the Thanksgiving Holiday here at home, at which time - in between bites of turkey and dressing - I plan to fully catch up with my many friends on this stream. I will also be popping in when I can - in the meantime - to see what is going on. At this writing I am concerned about the disappearance of "diesel". Does anyone have any idea what has happened?
So, for the next few days I will be on "part-time" duty here at the stream, but look forward to being able to devote more time to an endeavor that I've grown quite fond of.

“A pebble in the water…” What in hell are you doing? I was going to write a poem… Oh yeah, well write this. What? Write what I have to say Who in the hell are you? I’m your inner self Ok, so what’s your name? Shebam Shebam? Yeah No shit? You’ve got that right So, who named you? Named myself You can’t do that! Why not? Because I won’t allow it. Who are you? This is my body. Who says so? I do. Who are you? I’m Ice. Ok I’m 188 degrees, bye ice! Hold on a sec. Why? Cause Ice, he no want to melt. Ok Thanks. You’re Welcome. So, Shebam, what do you want me to write? Just some thoughts, that’s all. Ok, you tell me what to write, and I’ll write. All right, but won’t your friends think you strange? For what? For talking to yourself. Well, I’m “not” talking to myself. You’re not? No, I’m talking to you. But, I told you – I am your inner self. That’s what you said, not what I believe. How come you doubt what I say? Cause I’ve never heard of you before. You’ve never heard the phrase “inner self”? Oh sure, but how do I know that’s who you are? Because I told you. Sorry, I quit playing that game a long time ago. What game? Believing everything I hear. What do you want, proper ID? And what would that be? I don’t know. See Yes So, what is it you want me to write, Shebam? A poem. Ok Are you going to write it? Waiting on you. Ok, let’s see, hmm…”a pebble in the stream” Got it. Ok, and - “a dabble of cream” What is that? My poem Nah, that won’t work. Who’s doing this anyway? Nobody But I am Shebam!! Nah, you’re a figment of my imagination. That is not true. Sure it is, watch this. Where did you put me? In the back of my mind, way back in the back of my mind. Man, it’s dark back here. Yeah I know, now sit back there and be quiet. Ok See you later, Shebam Ok Hey Ice, it’s dark back here. Just find a seat and sit down. Ok Hey Ice, where’s the light switch? There’s not one. Why not? Just not. Hey Ice Now what? I found something back here. Oh yeah, what? A question. What is it? “What came first the chicken or the egg”? Oh yeah, that’s been there for a long time. What’s it doing back here? I put it there when I gave up trying to answer it. Why not answer it? Can’t. Why. Just can’t. You want to try? Ok, sounds easy enough. So, go ahead, what’s the answer? Well the chicken came first. Why? Hey man, you can’t have no egg without a chicken! Ok, I agree, but from where did the chicken come from? Man, it came from an egg. Ok Hmm… I see what you mean. This question is ponderous. You mean it’s a paradox. Pair of what? Never mind Ok So which came first, the chicken or the egg? Well its easy Ice, the chicken still had to come first. Ok, but where did the chicken come from? God. God? Yeah God. So God laid an egg, hence the chicken? Right. And this egg that god laid became a chicken who laid another egg? Yeah, you’ve got it now, Ice. Ok, what caused this chicken to lay another egg? Gee whiz Ice; you know there had to be a rooster for that. Where did the rooster come from? The rooster came from an egg, man. I thought the chicken came from the egg? The chicken did and so did the rooster. They both came from one egg? Nah man, god must of laid two eggs, I guess. Oh, god laid two eggs, one a chicken and the other a rooster? Right. And from this “rooster and this chicken” all other “roosters and chickens” sprung from? Right. Ok, I’m tracking, so far anyway. Let me recap. God laid two eggs, one a chicken and the other a rooster, and the chicken and the rooster produced eggs, right? Yeah, you’re tracking now, Ice So, you have established that the “chicken came before the egg”? That’s right Ice, now you’ve got it. Ok, but I still have a little problem. What’s that Ice? What caused God to lay those two eggs? That’s easy man, Mrs. God did. Mrs. God? Yeah Mrs. God. So why did Mrs. God cause God to hatch two eggs? Simple. She wanted eggs with her ham.

Recently this "rag" published the beginnings of a short story about a lady name of "Brandi". It was one of those "off the top of my head" writings, and I have been hard pressed to continue it - here on the blog. However, I have it on my "Word" program and will eventually complete it and then put it back on the blog. Thanks, from "The New Residencia", and keep on buying this rag.----------ice

I’ve always been one to leave… never knew what it was like to stay wonder why some leave and others stay?
maybe some see the glass half full while others see the opposite or might it be more complex, night really being day…..
Maybe life is just life made up in the imagination of the same people who named the rose and nothing else
I’ve always been one to seek answers on my own always wanting to find the one everyone wants to keep
I’ve never meant to hurt anyone it’s a free world isn’t it? anyway.. I’ve never left anyone who couldn’t of come along…
