Why is it that we have no "Spellcheck" when making a comment? Hope whoever is responsible for Spellcheck reads this and immediately sends me an answer.
Started to make a comment on a comment that I got today, and remembered that the "comment section" lacks too much. No "spellcheck," and no "paragraphs/indentions" either.
So... like every other time in my life, when faced with something I didn't much care for - while something else "better" was available, the "better" became my choice, hence this post/blog instead of the usual "comment." Note: if you're interested in the comment I am referring to, it is on "Debunkems" blog. The name of the particular blog is .... geez I can't remember - No, that's not the name of it, I really don't remember, you'll just have to read them all, but that's ok - they're all good. Anyway, you don't have anything better to do right now, do you?
Go ahead, go to his blog and read up till you catch up and come back here. "We'll leave a light on."
Are you back yet? Doesn't matter, we are going to start with or without you.
"Dear Water..." and with that I sat back and laughed, for surely, he meant "Dear Icemelts," it was just a mere play on words, or could it of been - because of all them smacks to the noggin? Hmmm...
Religion. You know.... "religion" kinda sorta falls into that category of; "if we didn't have it, we'd have to invent it". For all my doubts, I have "no doubt" that without religion, this ol world would of self-destructed long ago. It (with all its warts) is the fragile fabric that holds everything together.
I used the word "fragile" for more of a reason than needing an adjective in the sentence; it is most definitely - "a fragile fabric that holds us together". One only needs to reflect for a moment on his/her life to know this. So, go ahead, reflect for moment.
So, I've established one thing that "religion" is good for, and many others with strong, sure beliefs will cite all the great and good things about their particular faith.
We see it (and hear it) all the time. There is a seemingly eternal struggle (in the world) to advance religion. To spread the word throughout the world, and to "other worlds," when those avenues are opened up, I'm sure. Everyone has heard the "clique," "that more people have died due to religious wars than any other," and some even recognize that it is more than a "clique," it's a "truth".
Why the urgency/need to push one's beliefs upon others, to the extreme point - "that I'll kill to convert?" What God tells his followers to "go forth and fight wars in order to convert?" What god tells his disciples to "go forth and knock a few heads together and convert while you at it"?
If I don't "believe", and am going straight to hell, why not just .... let me?
Oh I know, somewhere in the bible it says to go forth and spread gods word. Fine. Spread it, but don't cut my head off, and cram your beliefs down my neck. That's not nice.
But, it must be said, "not all followers" are as described above, most, perhaps the majority, simply believe as they do, live their lives based on that belief, and die believing they will go to their version of heaven. Fine. Your God be with you.
It's that minority that rubs me raw. The select few, (thank god?) who wearing their faith firmly upon their sleeve, set out to convert the world, one person/country at a time.
We all, are now acutely aware of the "Muslim Religion/faith," thanks to the "wakeup call" on 9-11, and when I hear "good Christian People" in this country talk about "wiping them out", "killing them all", and screaming for our gov't to turn the Arab world into a "glass parking lot," I sit back and hold my head in my hands, and order another beer.
Can they not see "Religion VS Religion," here. It's the same old story, handed down from those who have come and gone before us, boldly and proudly passed to our youth - as if it is a honor to continually inflict this curse upon the human race.
Time for ol ice to stroll off and get another Corona, that's a damn good beer, from down south of the border - for you folks in Pasadena.

End of another long day. Watching "Cheers" on t.v., trying to get sleepy enough to go to bed. Here it is 11pm and 6 am comes early. At least there is only 1 more day left in the week, and the weekend has an extra day thanks to Columbus.
My wife is pissed because she does not get Monday off, her company does not recognize Columbus I guess. As for myself, I kind of like the guy, but then again I would like practically anyone who caused me to get a day off.
Have begun to notice the difference in 57 and 27, 37, and 47. I now go to bed before midnight, when before it was always after midnight. These days I have to have at least 6 hours of sleep, as opposed to the 4-5 I needed "back in the day."
Well, I'm out of here for now....

bouncing around these blogs is sometimes - somewhat unsettling to say the least. Do the rest of you (out there) "bounce" around much?
I know the "Prairie Prankster" does, for I see his comments everywhere.
these blogs are loaded with content, much of it hopelessly sprayed in all directions - coating all walls, and ceilings like a half circle looking to complete it's journey.
To understand the incomprehensible one only has to figure out himself, a mighty task, using up much introspection, and usually, an useless way of spending your time. And, you have to be careful, cause if you find the answer to the riddle, you might be putting yourself up to ridicule.
I heard say that the future of "blogs" is one where everyone has a blog, and mass communication is obtained. An interesting concept, and to let one's mind - wander a little, it could actually make national elections kind of fun to watch, and certainly change the political landscape, which is not to ignore what it would do in all other aspects of human life/endeavor.
But for now; just politics, ok? For example; can you imagine some presidential election in the not so distant future being decided by the vote of "every" -of age- person - voting on his/her blog. For the first time we would have a true democracy, right?
Of course I'm talking about "blogging" taken to the nth degree, instead of a singular based type of blogging, it would be more of a communal blog, i.e., instead of one voice (at a time), it would be all voices (at the same time), and we would all be able to comprehend everything being said, at once. Sort of like a huge computer, with all the voices firing at once, setting off millions and millions flashes of light. Now that would be some lightning show, eh?

The blog "Liberal Judges are Losers," had an interesting piece the other day, titled "Republican Rollovers," which had some good comments also. I started to merely comment on the article, but it (my comment) evolved into more than just a comment, hence this blog.
The article alluded to the fact that "Democrats want higher taxes, while Republicans want lower taxes," so, what else is new? I've been hearing that argument all my life. Big deal. How bout ... "just spending the money our gov't taxes us, properly and wisely, without "waste" (a.k.a. pork)? And, while we're at it, how bout making them (our leaders) "totally accountable to the taxpayer."
Would that be too much to ask of both political parties?
I believe that "proper management" of our tax dollars would result in our being able to provide all needed services, such as intra structure, military, emergency help, etc.,etc., to include "all justified" entitlements for those who need it, while at the same time "reducing the tax burden" on the taxpayer.
Now, that's a "novel idea," isn't it? Asking our gov't to be prudent with the checkbook, live within their means, and be accountable to those paying the bill.
Maybe, just "maybe" we need to forget the frigging labels, republican, democratic, liberal, conservative, etc, etc, and demand such boring things like, "accountability," "honesty," and "proper management/financial skills?" Show me a political party willing to incorporate those ideas into gov't, and they will have my vote every time.
"Abortion." What a "rotten to the core," word. But, as bad as it is, "abortion" is needed, in cases where the "health of the mother" is in question. But, even then, it is such a tragedy that one must die for another to live....
There are "those" who would also argue for the "right of the mother," to choose to abort an unwanted pregnancy brought on by "rape." What a difficult question and a truly horrible situation to be in.
In those cases, I believe abortion should be allowed, but, only after the woman has been "totally" educated on the finality of abortion, and all attempts to introduce "adoption" as an viable option, have been exhausted.
I know this stance will draw heat from some quarters, and they will "rightly" argue that abortion is abortion, whatever the reason. But, I believe that just as most of us, can accept abortion when the health of the mother is involved, so should we accept it in the case of "rape," for after all, this type of pregnancy will affect the mental/physical health of the mother.
To those who argue for the "right of the woman" to do with her body what she wants, I can only say, "yes," in certain situations, it is her decision, but to allow "abortion on demand," is more than I am prepared to be a part of.
Abortion because the mother/father does not want the baby is sickening to me, and should never be part of the equation.
Maybe we could work on, "really work on," educating our people, about being "responsible for their actions," or at the very least; "refuse to allow them to simply erase their mistakes."
Bottom line, "abortion on demand" has no place in a civilized world, which in and of itself, says a lot about the United States of America today, eh?
The article also talks about "silencing free speech," which gets blamed on the Democrats, but, it was the "Republican Majority," during that "rabid period" shortly after the war started, who were shouting down anyone who dared to voice opposition to the war. Remember?
As for me, I was one of many young men who was sent to war (by the old men) during Vietnam, and now as a somewhat older man myself, I will always hesitate to jump on any bandwagon, that is so quickly, willing to sacrifice our young men/women in a war without justified and "provable" reasons.
Finally, I do appreciate reading thought provoking articles like the one mentioned above, but agree with some of those who commented on it, by saying "it's time to start doing something about it."
