out of my way

thinking I’d stay & see

how she done it

on her side of the world

it’ll be nice to see you

but just know

I don’t do long-distance

relationships

come on down you said

bring that old caddy

I’ll cook a roast

& we’ll get around for awhile

I drove for hours

wondering where you were

lost as I was

without you

Seven years ago…

gone as quick

as a memory

on a long ago summer night

just a short jag

out of my way
