Leo – seeya Ice!

 

Ice – where you’re headed?

 

Leo – be back in awhile.

 

Ice – what am I supposed to do while you’re gone?

 

Leo – get supper, hang out, whatever….

 

As Leo strolls away from Ice – eventually – exiting the cafeteria from the rear door, another man enters through the front door – and as he slowly saunters toward ice - there is something very familiar in his walk, but exactly what’s so familiar - remains just out of the reach of the iceyman, that is - until the stranger's face comes into full view.

 

Ice – Mr. Bogart!  What a pleasure!

 

Bogart – hiya, mind if I sit awhile with you?

 

Ice – not at all (as he pulls up a chair)

 

Bogart – Leo will be back in a little while, but while he’s gone

               I’ve been appointed to sit with you, sort of go over

               some things.

 

Ice – what in the world could you have to go over with me?

 

Bogart – Well for one thing I understand you’ve been

                wondering if Pioneer might be everybody on the

                ‘ol stream?’

 

Ice – just thinking a few thoughts about it, but really – Mr.

         Bogart… I’d rather talk to you about many other things,   

         other than my simple musings.

 

Bogart – for example?

 

Ice – like ..  uh, er, how long have you been here?

 

Bogart – since early 57.

 

Ice – what’s it like here?

 

Bogart – well, kinda nice to my way of thinking, but it does

                take some adjustment.

 

Ice – well, how does it feel to be dead?

 

Bogart – I don’t have a clue my man, cause I’m not, and neither

               are you.

 

Ice – but… I thought Leo said – ‘they were recalling me?’

 

Bogart – well he did, and they did, but dieing is not part of the

                picture.

 

Ice – so .. where am I? 

 

Bogart – same place you’ve always been, only slightly altered;

                as Leo told you – ‘a parallel world.’

 

Ice – how did I get here?

 

Bogart – who the hell knows?  None of us have a clue as to

                what is going on here; not much different from where

                you just come from, yes?

 

Ice – what’s going to happen to me?

 

 

 

Bogart – when Leo gets back he’ll put you with the ‘Transfer

               People’ and they’ll complete the necessary  paperwork

               and  you’ll officially be assigned to this world.  Hey,

               you want to hear some good music?

 

Ice – I guess so.

 

Bogart – listen

 

From somewhere within the cafeteria - Ice hears the faint sound of music; drifting from seemingly the ceiling, or is it floor?  He has no idea, but is enthused to hear ‘Van Morrison’s’ – Brown Eyed Girl   playing on the speakers, wherever they are. 

 

Bogart – great song right?  But of course – you know that,

                cause it comes from your generation; in fact, most all

                the music you’ll hear will be from your generation.

 

Ice – how come, what about other music?

 

Bogart – won’t happen.  We all voted your generation’s music

                in…. it was no contest.

 

Ice – wait a minute!  I’m tired of all this ‘merry-go-round’

          mis-information – going on.  I want some answers!

 

Bogart – oh you’ll get them – (he says while glancing over Ice’s

                  head) 

 

Ice – turning to look behind him, to where Bogart is looking, Ice is stunned to see a tall white haired man, long white hair, quite possibly a wig even – and unless he was hallucinating, the white haired gentleman was …

 

George Washington!

 

Bogart – wish they’d play ‘Baby Love.’
